REA President Sue Tanen announces strike vote with hundreds of members

A special note from Vermont-NEA President Don Tinney

On behalf of the board of directors of Vermont-NEA, I want to express our unequivocal support for the Rutland Education Association members who have bravely voted to strike after 315 days without a contract. We know these dedicated teachers didn’t take this action lightly. But when a group of dedicated union members are disrespected by a board that would rather impose working conditions than sit down and settle, they are left with little choice. To President Sue Tanen and her bargaining team, we say stand strong. And to the members of the REA, your fellow Vermont-NEA members have your back. In solidarity and admiration, I wish you all the strength and support in the world. And if a settlement isn’t reached by Wednesday, I’ll see you on the picket lines.
